A Balenciaga Balance


Nicolas Ghesquière opened his first Los Angeles boutique with inspiration, it seems, from his Spring 08 collection. A balance between science fiction and organic influences sound familiar? We all remember Balenciaga’s influential spring ‘08 collection which consisted of futuristic shapes and punch floral prints. His interior at the new Melrose Ave outpost is filled with geometric detailing, strategic lighting, and touch-activated mechanisms. The exterior exemplifies the Southern Cal style, beautifully landscaped greenery as well as a black lava rock garden. The modern ranch style building looks nothing shy of a Joseph Eichler home from the 60’s, which makes this new boutique fit right into the West Hollywood scene. Read more on WWD.com
